Megalithic Model From Malta Download Full Size Image

Model of a Megalithic building carved out of Globigerina Limestone. It shows a trilithon entrance and walls formed of slabs. Above these are one or two courses of horizontally laid slabs projecting inwards. The roof is apparently composed of seven horizontal slabs.

3800-3000 BCE

Provenance: Discovered in 1923 during excavations of the Ta Hagrat Temple Complex, Mgarr Village, Gozo.

Currently housed at the National Museum of Archaeology in Valetta, Malta.
