This "block statue" shows a man in the pious position of squatting on the ground like a temple guardian, hands folded across his knees. The hieroglyphic inscription identifies this sitter as Rey, overseer of the treasury and of the granaries of Mont, the local god of Armant (a city near Thebes). On the front and sides of the statue, the text invokes Mont and his consort at Armant, the goddess Lunyt, in favor of Rey, that he may receive offerings for ever and drinks at the altar of the god. The back of the statue is inscribed with an "Appeal to the Living" in which Rey asks anyone who passes the statue to recite the prayer for offerings on his behalf.
