This is a full replica of one of the Balawat gates. The bronze bands are original and were embossed with warfare scenes and military campaigns conducted by the Assyrian King Shalmaneser III (e.g., the capture of Hamath and Hazuzu in Syria); various scenes of bulls and lion hunting as well as tribute bearers (e.g., one of the scenes shows the king receiving tribute from the cities of Tyre and Sidon in Lebanon). Each pair of doors was cased with 8 horizontal bronze bands on either side. From Balawat (Imgur-Enlil), northern Mesopotamia, Iraq. Neo-Assyrian Period, reign of King Shalmaneser III, 858-824 BCE.
