This slab, later used a millstone, tells of the world's creation by Ptah, chief god of Memphis. The text is Archaic, and a preface claims that Shabaqo (Shabako) A Kushite King, had it copied from an ancient worm-eaten scroll in the temple of Ptah. Memphis features as Egypt's capital and Ptah as a king. Shabaqo took residence in Memphis, like the Old Kingdom pharaohs. The Kushites justified their rule over Egypt by acting as guardians of its legacy and emulating its past achievements. 25th Dynasty, reign of Shabaqo, circa 716-702 BCE. From Memphis, originally from the temple of Ptah, Egypt. (The British Museum, London).
