These ornaments show female figures (Tyches) representing the 4 leading cities of of the Late Roman World. "Rome" is dressed in military costume. "Constantinople" holds a cornucopia (a horn filled with flowers and food), representing fruitful abundance. "Alexandria" holds sheaves of corns and rests her foot on the bow of a ship. Finally, "Antioch" sits on a rock above the rover Orantes, represented by a nude youth beneath her. Part of the Esquiline Treasure, which was discovered in the year 1793 CE, at the foot of the Esquiline Hill, Rome, Italy. Circa 380 CE. From Rome. (The British Museum, London).
