The relief on the side of the throne shows a prize-table with a Panathenaic amphora and three wreaths on it. Under the table are two palm branches and in the background an olive tree. Two owls form the front legs. Marble chair from the Panathenaic Stadium at Athens, as rebuilt by Herodes Atticus, 140-143 CE. Formerly in the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Nisbet; the throne was given to them by the Archbishop of Athens in 1801. Purchased with a grant from the Olympic Museum, Laussane. (The British Museum, London).
