Canopic Box Of Nesaarud. 25th-early 26th Dynasties. (680-600 BCE). Probably from Thebes, Egypt. From the Middle Kingdom onwards (about 2040-1650 BCE), canopic jars were sometimes stored in boxes. Here, the Sons of Horus are depicted on each side. Each son is portrayed with a goddess who is purifying him. Neith - distinguishable in her red crown - pours water on the jackal-headed Duamutef.
