When Lake Sevan's water dropped due to hydroelectric production in 1950, countless graves and other ancient artifacts were uncovered in Lchashen, Armenia. Over the decades, 800 graves were discovered the majority of which were made from stone and dated from the Bronze Age. Various goods were found in these tombs, including skeletons of horses and oxen connected to carts in addition to bronze statuettes of various animals and jewelry. Many of these artifacts are now at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia and the History Museum of Armenia in Yerevan, Armenia.
