This stela is from Solana de Cabañas (Cabañas del Castillo, Cáceres), Spain and dates from the Late Bronze Age. It is made of slate, and it was unearthed in the late 19th century CE. This was the first specimen to be discovered in a series of stelae now numbering over 100 monuments. The figure is surrounded by the symbols of his social rank, including a Mediterranean-style chariot in which the engraver nevertheless made the mistake of placing the wheels on the axis, thus demonstrating that he had never actually seen the object he was representing.
