This miniature model is 6000 years old but it represents the type of churn that is still used in some Bedouin and rural communities today. Usually made of goatskin, churns like this are hung with ropes and transform yogurt into butter when shaken continuously. They are one of this region's earliest food tradition. Circa 3800-3600 BCE. From the Dead Sea area. (The Jordan Museum, Amman, Jordan).
