This Gallo-Roman altar was donated by Quintus Nicennius in honor of the Celtic goddesses of the crossroads. The worshiping of these deities dates back to the era before the Roman occupation of Gaul and what is now present-day Switzerland. This specimen is made from stone and dates from the 1st century CE. It was found in Windisch, Canton Aargau, Switzerland. (Landesmuseum, Zürich)
