At the western edge of Augusta Raurica, stood some very important, sacred buildings. Today, only the bottom part of the core construction survives. We do not know what this edifice looked like in detail. We do know, however, that it stood at the centre of a large rectangular square which was surrounded by porticoes. Adjacent to the building was a bath complex. This facility had two rooms which were both fitted with several built-in bath tubs. We could assume that these baths were used for remedial spa treatments under the guidance of medically trained priests.
