17th Century CE replica of a Roman statue of an athlete, dating from 440-420 BCE. Marble. This impressive piece of sculpture is probably the inverted copy (left - right) of a work from the Ludovisi collection, copied in order to decorate the park in which the antiques were originally placed only in the 17th Century CE. The sculptor has succeeded in perfectly imitating ancient work.
