Kathleen Freeman was a writer who paid close attention to detail and was able to bring the past alive through her prose (as in her The Greek City States which is a personal favorite and highly recommended). In her Ancilla to Pre-Socratic Philosophers she brings this same care and quality of work. The fragments of the great Pre-Socratic philosophers are presented clearly and uniformly.
Some of the most famous ancient Greek philosophers, such as Thales, Anaximander, and Anaximenes are included, of course, along with lesser known figures like Phocus and Cleostratus.
This is an excellent reference book for anyone teaching or writing on ancient Greek philosophy or history and simply a fine addition to any functioning library.
