Biography
Branko F. van Oppen de Ruiter (PhD '07, CUNY) is an exhibition curator and independent scholar specialized in Ptolemaic queenship as well as Hellenistic art and ideology. He has published books and essays both for an academic and a general audience. Previously he was a visiting research scholar and curator at the Allard Pierson Museum, particularly of the Graeco-Roman Egyptian collection. Recent research projects focused on the museum's terracotta collection as well as the Edfu hoard of Ptolemaic sealings. The latter project has been generously sponsored by the Mondriaan Fund (Amsterdam) and the Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles).
