Biography
I am a humanities scholar focusing on English literary studies and, more specifically, on the studies of 19th- and early-20th-century English literature. I am particularly interested in Wellsian scholarship (studies of H. G. Wells's oeuvre and thought), but my interest is not limited to this author.
I am fond of nature, formal rhyming poetry, philosophy. I am a dedicated seeker of higher meaning in life although today's reigning system of knowledge, dominated by the laws of entropy, does not give much hope for the success of this quest. Also discouraging is the present situation (as of 2025) in global politics, and especially in my country, Serbia, whose survival seems to hang by a thread, given the international community's lack of desire to heed the will of the Serbian people who would by no means want to see their living space devastated by lithium mining. For the Serbian people at least, Native American history now seems to be a great teacher, given the similarity of position between these two nations or groups of nations (the struggle for survival in conflict with the big capitalists' hunger for land resources).
Other than Native American history, I am also fascinated by particular ancient and medieval civilizations and their myths (such as the Greco-Roman civilization, Anglo-Saxon England, the Viking Age, feudal Japan, etc.). Proverbially and from the point of view of futuristic utopian/dystopian and SF literature (which I study as a scholar), history is a teacher of life and something preparatory to the coming forms of society, whether better or worse than the one that exists in the present. Yet, apart from this aspect, history, for me, also has another, non-scientific, non-scholarly, non-anticipatory, escapist aspect, which gives me a chance to imagine certain past ages and societies as better and more fulfilling than the one I live in today, even though these imagined past societies may be estranged from real facts and nothing more than pure fiction.
