Biography

History is the main subject that allows me to fully explore the diversity of human experience and reflect upon it.
After incursions in the late Roman Empire and the early Middle Ages, I eventually ended up in the Viking Age. I wrote my PhD thesis on Norse myth and its reception in metal music, but now my main interests lie in cultural history, magic and mentalities, the supernatural and generally the universe of the Icelandic sagas.
I've also started a channel for historical education (YouTube handle @irinaskuld), collaborate with the Save Ancient Studies Alliance where I hold masterclasses and seminars, and starting September 2024 will also offer classes on Norse magic and beliefs, as well as the Viking world.
