John Polemikos

Biography

John Polemikos teaches at Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois. He brings his passion for history to students at both the general and special education levels. With an interest in Balkan history, he is an active member of numerous esteemed organizations such as the Balkan History Association, Rockford Historical Society, and Southeast European Studies Association. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Rockford University, specializing in history education for students with special needs. His research interests include the Balkan diaspora, and he recently published "When Greek Meets Greek: Foundations of the Rockford Greek Orthodox Parish of Sts. Constantine and Helen" in Nuggets of History 61 no. 4 (Winter 2022).
