Biography
I study medicine and theology because I am obsessed with the question of how we are to live up to the challenge of being human in a world saturated with suffering. History is the best tool for learning how others managed to live good lives in hard times. My operating assumption is that wisdom is to be found in the synthesis of disparate ideas across time and space.
For vocational purposes, I am particularly interested in the history of science, medicine, and technology. For contingent reasons, I am also interested in military history and the histories of religion and philosophy.
