The Ides of March marks the day of the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BCE. On the 15th of March, some of Julius Caesar's enemies and even friends turned against him in the fear that he was becoming too much like a king, especially since he had become dictator for life.
Veni Vidi Vici, Julius Caesar’s famous line meaning `I came, I saw, I conquered’ is one of the most famous quotes from the Ancient World and almost as iconic of Shakespeare’s creative liberties with Caesar’s supposed final words, Et tu, Brute? You too, Brutus? Stick around to learn all about the motives of the killers, how the assassination took place and what it meant for Rome in the aftermath.
