In three highlight clips from this public lecture, Patrick McGovern, scientific director of the Biomolecular Archaeology Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania Museum in Philadelphia, explains the biomolecular archaeological approach behind the discovery of some of the oldest alcoholic beverages in the world. He shares how he and Dogfish Head Brewery recreated a mixed fermented beverage served at the King Midas funerary feast, the earliest alcoholic beverage from China, and a chocolate beverage from Honduras, shedding light on how our ancestors made them.
